The struggle can be real when you’re trying to maintain the cuteness factor with an ever growing bump. I’m currently 23 weeks pregnant and took these pictures last week while I was actually 22 weeks along with my friend Carly from YouMe_Naturally. We decided to meet up for a way overdue brunch and had a spur of the moment thought to do a mini-shoot. It was at this stage that the idea of starting a Style the Bump series sprang to mind – a space on my blog where I can share some maternity style inspiration. And I’ll bring you the inspiration, well, whenever I feel inspired to do so.
I’m going to admit, it’s not everyday during pregnancy where you feel fit and ready to face the world, but on this particular day I felt like I was on Cloud 9! Looking put together, cute and my makeup was right on point, well to me anyway.
The look I came up with is one that I’m actually wearing fairly often. If you’ve never been pregnant before you’ll find that once you are with-child, you’ll tend to gravitate towards the same clothes fairly regularly as it’s all about comfort. I find that a pair of maternity jeans is a staple in my wardrobe now. And to be honest, this pair is more jeggings than actual jeans: it’s super soft and stretchy and you can just tell it’s made to stretch and grow with you as your body stretches and grows.
I’m also wearing the only maternity shirt I own (there’s just no point in spending loads of money on clothes you’ll only be wearing for a few months), a lovely black and white stripy one which I like to dress up with a belt just over the bump. You may as well bring lots of attention to it!
I’m sure you would have seen these pair of chelsea boots all over my Instagram as I wear them so often – again they are comfortable as they are made from real leather with just the right heel height so that I can still walk around in them for almost the entire day.
This being my second pregnancy I can confirm that the one thing I’ve not wanted to compromise on in either pregnancy is my usual sense of style, so it’s been very important for me to keep to my usual silhouettes, just with the added bump – hence a pair of skinny jeans coming in so handy.
